It's Time for the Fair!!

The Fair is upon us and the Mustangs have a good showing of projects in the 4H building, make sure to check them out while you are at the fair.

Congrats to those that participated in the talent show last night.
Jenna A. placed 4th with her dance routine.  The Mustang group of Kaleb, Tanner, Ryan, Mallary, MacKenzie, Erin and Rachel did a great job with their sign language performance of "We Believe".

There is still a need for volunteers to help host/hostess.  Please sign up to help.  If you are interested see one of the agents in the 4-H building while you are there. They will get you on the list.  It’s not a hard job and you never know who you may get to meet.

The Mustangs will be riding the float in the Fair parade on Thursday at 7PM please arrive at least 15 minutes early to get on the float.

If you are participating in public speaking, demonstrations, archery, animal showing, etc. please get your schedule to Mrs. Marian so that we can come out and support you at that time.

See you at the Fair!!

Mustang Happenings--March

Riding into spring, the Bridgeville Mustangs are ready for warm weather and lots of 4-H activities. At the March meeting, we discussed all the cool things that our members have done over the past month. We held our 2nd annual Mustang Fun Fest. Our Jr. Leaders taught 8 projects to enter in the fair. Fun was had by all!! The Mustangs had a great turn out for the Favorite Foods Contest. All the dishes were delicious! Congratulations to all that participated! The Palomino Ponies and the Equinators both did an awesome job at the State Horse Bowl Competition. The Palomino Ponies took 2nd in the state. Congrats to Paige, Donna, Cheyenne, and Alexia!! Equinators were Tanner, Caleb, C.J., and Jenna. Thanks to Mrs. Heather and Ms. Melissa for coaching us!!! Mr. Jordy led us in a fun game using beach balls. It made everyone wish for summer!! The Cloverbuds had a super time planting flowers and making a poster that showed parts of a plant.

Our Horticulture and Poultry project groups have been practicing for judging contests. Small Engines had their 1st meeting and learned parts of a motor. Health project group made a poster on how to avoid dog bites. Horse project group is set to work on entries for the Equine Art Contest and judging. Foods group made candy at their last meeting. Archery is ready to point, aim, and shoot as soon as the weather gets warmer.
We have lots of upcoming activities, such as Beach Grass Planting, National Armed Service Day, Mustangs BBQ Fundraiser and Mustang Day at the Monster Mile.

Lastly, Congratulations to our Co-President Hayley B. She recently won the title of Miss Dairy Princess for Delaware. Make sure you look out for her at the Delaware State Fair and camp this summer.

Whimsical Animal Rescue/Sussex County Animal Association Egg Fest

It's an Eggfest! Stop by Barton's Southern States, Concord Pets, or Pizza King in Seaford and purchase an egg for $1.  Every dollar raised makes a different in helping the rescue with medical needs, and expenses incurred while helping homeless cats and dogs find loving forever homes. The rescue eggs will be available from now until Easter at all 3 locations. Each location will then place all the eggs in a basket and draw for a $25 gift certificate for that store. An awesome deal for you and the rescue.

Thank you to everyone that helped cut out the 2000 eggs that are being sold. Now please go out and buy some eggs!

Updates

Mustang monthly meeting:  Thurs., 02/20, 6:30 pm Exploring 4-Hers, 7 pm monthly meeting

Mustang Winter Fun Fest
Due to snow and wind, the Fun Fest was rescheduled to Saturday, 02/22, Union UMC, 4-8pm.
Please contact me no later than this Friday, 02/7 if….
·       You signed up and can no longer attend or
·       You can now attend and wish to sign up.
The materials and supplies have already been purchased for this event.  We need accurate numbers by the 7th.

We are in need of empty toilet paper rolls for an activity.  Please begin saving them and bring them to the meeting on the 20th.

Service project:
Kaleb P. brought the project “Share a Second Helping” to my attention.  This is an easy way for us to help those in need.  See the attached flyer for more detailed information.  The goal of the drive is to collect 100,000 pounds of food by the end of February.  Kaleb has willingly agreed to transport all collected food to a food collection station.  If every member, including Cloverbuds, would bring in 1,2,or even 3 non-perishable food items….imagine the impact we could make.  There are many people around us that are hungry, and we don’t even know.  Please bring what you can to the February meeting.  Thanks Kaleb for sharing this community project!

Thanks and see you soon,
Marian

Mustang News--January Meeting

What a way to start a year!!! The Mustangs began their 1st meeting of the year with “The Bear Song” led by our terrific song leaders, C.J. and Alexa Carroll. After our business meeting, Mrs. Tammy Lecates planned a really fun game using balloons. We learned about our responsibilities in our home and community, especially doing our chores!! The Cloverbuds were busy making snowflakes and hoping for a big snowfall.
Our Junior Leaders have been preparing for the 2nd annual Mustang Winter Fun Fest. They have 8 cool crafts that we will be creating to enter in the Delaware State Fair. Our Horse Bowl Teams have been formed and are busy studying for the competition. Foods, Health, and Horticulture are meeting this month. Our leader, Mrs. Marian Carey has encouraged us all to enter Public Speaking and Favorite Foods Contests coming in February.

The Bridgeville Mustangs would like the thank everyone that came out to Caroling in the Park. We hope that you had a great time seeing members of the community gathering together and singing beautiful Christmas carols. Also, special thanks go out to our members for baking those delicious cookies and Mrs. Rita Hovermale for providing that awesome hot chocolate. Until next month, Happy Valentine’s Day!!
